According to the Google Transparency Report, YouTube began removing videos that violated their policies in Q4 2017. A few quarters later, the company began removing entire YouTube channels that violated their policies, including all of the videos belonging to those channels. Shortly after a shooting at the YouTube headquarters by someone allegedly upset because their videos were removed, the company implemented a “3 strikes and your out” policy before removing channels. However, multiple incidents in 2021 showed the company appeared to increasingly remove channels and videos without warning.
